When transitioning e. belem from emmersed to a low tech tank would it be best to allow it to reabsorb it leaves and regrow new ones or just cut them. Since I have put it in my tank it has yellowed...

Dwarf lillys are super easy and will stay red. Ludwigia repens is easy and will have some color to it as well.

A lot of areas in the United States have hard water (large amounts of carbonate). Also if you have rocks in the tank they may make it worse.

looks like the plant on the right is rotala rotundifolia. and the shorter plant on the left is a type of crypt, possibly crypt lutea or wendtii.

yeah the whole 20 gallon idea is all about water stability. small tanks are more prone to changes and CRS are sensitive to change

lol i don't think so. My nano had ammonia off the api test chart and the plants did fine. The only plant that I had that melted way the DHG but I'm pretty sure that was the source of the ammonia... ...

I wouldn't do dhg unless you get the belem variety since the typical dhg will grow just as fast and maybe taller than pygmy chain swords.

If you want to cut them so that you can control where they spread then you can always try small plastic divider to help contain them... I just cut up an old plastic container I had laying around.
