I have cut back to 2 bulbs and raised the fixture up as much as I can. I have cut the photo period back to 6 hours...might even cut it back to 4-5 for now and slowly...

I'm not convinced. Maybe while the algae is bad 1 bulb is good, but not afterwards. I'll try 2 bulbs first and see how it goes. :)

I understand that all that is contributing, but my setup has been the same for the almost 3 years that the tank has been setup. I've had algae, but nothing like this....
