I know puffers are probably the most common snail eaters and also certain types of loaches. In my tank, no snail has ever lasted more than a day or two with my school of zebra loaches.

They aren't much a schooler, at least in the number I kept them in (8 in a Mini-L) but I agree, you could probably have around 15 in a 10 gallon.

You can use heat shrink tubing from the hardware store on your intake, that's how I'm keeping a slightly too large prefilter on my glass intake.
