I've grown Hc in low light without co2 just dose excel. as long as you grow it with low light things should be fine but it'll be tough to get the balance established at first.

nothing breaks down nitrates so those will build up. The only way to decrease nitrates is with plants or with water changes. I change about 50% of my water once a week.
