OK, I've read all the posts and:
1. The water softener/descaler is basicly useless
2. No one has a clue why it's water product kills fish
3. we're all just work'n people (I'm retired by the way)

Yes it's one of those, that wraps around the incomming water main. I beleive it changes the charges of the water.
