I have had fish get stuck in driftwood or other hardscape and drown, but never in a plant. I would do a water change asap with any NO2 present.

Just give them a gentle tug with your fingers or tweezers. They'll come off easily when they are ready. You can wait until they fall off naturally, but I'm not that patient.
