SO it does not leach ammonia at dramatic rate...but rather gives off CO2 a bit. I like that!:) Also, I am convinced (at the moment) that blasting sand will be a good cap with a homogeneous black...

Does the blasting sand inhibit spread of carpet via roots? I know play sand does, it compacts too tightly and all you see are shoots growing above the substrate.

Have to be lucky. Most of stores sell boys but occasionally 2 or 3 girls appear. I had this issue with pearl gouramis, bought 1 boy and 2 girls - one of them grew to be a boy later on. :)

Furan-2 helped my pearl lady to get read of that nasty fungus (bacteria is the primary cause). She had it on all the fins, looking very similar to yours. So quarantine and treat with antibiotic.
