For me, I have too much invested livestock wise to take a chance. I'm adding the leaves to provide a surface for bio film to grow on and the shrimp to graze. I'm not doing it for any other...

Should be just fine as long as you don't see obvious rot/mold/etc - just as Bushkill pointed out. I always boil mine before I add them to the tank anyway, and if you do that, you should wipe out any...

It would be more for Neos since it is a neutral substrate. You won't get any buffering help from it, so anything to get below neutral of pH 7 will have to come from your water + remineralization...

My only other suggestion is that I don't skimp on the water that I send them in. I generally use about 1/2 a quart of water along with moss or mesh (as others have pointed out) for them to hold onto...

I found an article online "Shipping Fish and Invertebrates" by Marcie DiCenso a good read. If you search for it, you should find it pretty easily.

Depends on your budget. If you have the money to buy a small starter colony of existing TB shrimp, put them in their own tank, and any offspring they have will all be TB. For the mischling route,...

What type of shrimp are these? Typically, the shrimp aren't eating the algae directly, they are eating the bits of stuff that are trapped in or on the algae. In some cases, this in turn causes the...

Seems like a good plan. Are you sure you need the cold pack? I don't know the current temps, so that may be just fine. Generally, I wouldn't mess with heat or cold packs unless it is necessary, or...

The babies will look just like CRS, but carry the TB gene. They would be known as F1 mischlings. Let the babies grow to maturity, they breed with either a TB, or other F1 mischlings, and that set...

A lot of local fish stores will test your water for free, or for like $1 or so. Might be worth taking a sample in and having a 3rd party test it for sanity sake. I'm not questioning your testing...

Are these adults or juveniles that are dying?
Have you had them in this tank very long?

If the tank is pretty well established, they probably have enough to eat, though a bit of food won't hurt. ...

In my experience, generally, pretty good. Now, the real hurdle will be more around the 10 day mark or so. For CRS/CBS, that seems to be where they will continue on and make it, or they won't...

Personally, I'd do about 15% each time. I'll let others chime in as well since you mention it is heavily planted, but I'd have to think that even 30% total on a heavily planted tank is pretty...

Interesting. I wonder what level that shrimp figure in to their calculation/formula. Generally, shrimp are viewed as extremely light bio-load on a tank. I am just guessing, I would have to figure...

What size of tank is this? 30-40% water change is pretty significant. On a smaller sized tank, that is a very large variation to the ecosystem.

API makes a Copper test that you can buy. It probably is worth picking that up to check your water before you get too far into remedy mode. I have never had copper issues, but I suspected it once...

That looks way more like fungus than eggs to me. You really can't go wrong by isolating the shrimp first, getting a few better pictures if possible, and then if it checks out OK, return to the tank...

Are the shrimp adults or juveniles? Adults will generally have a tougher time adapting to change - even if you do a drip acclimation. It's also not a bad idea to test the water where they came from...

I agree, it certainly sounds like molts.

I leave the molts in the tank as that is just part of the process for shrimp. However, I always remove bodies (if I find them in time) on the chance that...
