We had thai micro crabs at the LFS I worked at, and I'm not sure if they were babies, but they were TINY. If they were the same size as the ones I saw, you would never see them in a 55.

In my opinion, I would consider some Amano shrimp. They grow larger than most shrimp Neo's and other Caridina, so there would be a little more peace of mind knowing your fish won't mess with them.
