Yeh plecos are real good at this sort of thing or another scavenger that sounds like it would be required in larger numbers due to a smaller size is the weatherloach.

If it became ill or injured in a 3 day period, you would be suprised how quickly plecos will devour a fish, my ancistrus did this once with a fish of 2" in a day, its nasty!

Cheers, yeh everything grows into the centre a bit because the lighting tube is in a casing which sits on top and isnt quite the whole length of the tank which is annoying but not a big problem..
