I just run filter floss in my nuvo. You don't really need all the extra stuff. It just gets clogged faster and the water just flows over the filter in effect bypassing it.

I would just go with aquasoil if you plan on planting anything in the substrate. And that wood looks awesome. No idea what it is though. Keep in mind that the viewing area in the tank only has a foot...

The nicer ones fail too. I just helped someone fix their gla regulator that had the check valves fail.

Even the real high quality stuff gives up after a while. What gets me is that gla it still...

Step one, unscrew the big black knob on the regulator all the way counter clockwise.

Step two, open the knob on...

A few years ago, the vts's could be easily found for cheap on fleabay. That was pretty much why. Not so much anymore.

If had to do it over again, I would build a diy LED pendant.

If money wasn't an issue, probably the dimmable ati 4x24w t5ho or a ai vega color.

Low on funds, a catalina 2x24w t5ho.

I wouldn't try using using a 150mh on your first planted tank. You'd be in for a struggle. If you're thinking about going ADA, the solar 2 is your best bet for the 60p.

The solar 2 is pretty much perfect even though its a bit dated. I had a 70w hqi over mine for a while and it was probably too much. The general consensus would be to use a 2x24w t5ho fixture.
