I've tried the eheim, azoo and ada. My favorite is the azoo. You don't have to diy to fix it like the eheim. It's easy to clean. Highly recommended.

Usually that means that it's stunted from lack of fertilizer. Decrease the light level to match the current fertilizer amount, or increase the fertilizer/co2.

Substrate as a biological filter

Looks like powersand is basically pumice. Is there any benefit to having biological filter media in the substrate? Will it do better than aquasoil to culture bacteria?
