I've seen people use al kinds of material to make a high scape. Plastic grating, stones etc.

You dont have to use more soil to get high soil ;)

I had the same experience and went back to the ugly eheim green. Your idea with the mesh sounds really good, it covers flow and shrimp problems in one go.

How do you plan on sawing it?

Took pictures yesterday.

Things are going well.

New leafs on the Hygro pinnatifida, new leafs on the Crypt lucens, at least one sag is showing its roots through the glass & the tenullus is busy...

Wait..hold on..of course i did know that its just that i've never use ammonia to cycle a tank so i forgot it was ammonia that got converted to nitrite-->nitrate.
I just used to wait for 4 weeks...

One little tip i can give is to either push the big stones down so the bottom edge does not show or to cover the edge with the gravel. It tends to look more natural that way.

Yes the KNO3 did fully dissolve, I used lukewarm water so it was almost instant.

I'm going to make a new solution...

I added 10.20 grams to the solution. (The .20 is not unnecessary at all but its in there anyway so i wrote it down to be precise.)

Would it be possible to keep the reflector covered and maybe eventually go to 9 - 10 hours of light-on time instead of 8 hours with reflector?

High Nitrate - Dont know where it came from

Just tested nitrates in my new tank (ok ok its a bowl actually) and i was surprised to get a very high reading..about 50 mg/l maybe even more.

I have no idea how it became so high..my tap water...

Its certainly doable to do it like that but when i make solutions i always try to make them strong...
