I'm kind of thinking about a blackwater type set up but instead of tanning just a lot of floaters to keep the tank darker. Maybe a little bit of tannins would be fine too.

Algae and plant problems when I move to soft water.

Whenever I am at school and use the soft water here I always have staghorn problems and some plant deficiencies. Is this because hard water has more nutrients in it than soft water?

The Blyxa that stayed rooted is doing very well now and looks really nice. Even though it is a PITA to get to stay down, it is still my favorite plant.

Well this has started when I moved to softer water so that points to some kind of deficiency. I am dosing Root medic one step but just started some flourish nitrogen today to see if that will help.
