Thanks for the info on optimum water conditions. Using API liquid tests, pH is 7.6, KH is 2, GH is 8. Historically carbonate hardness has been 3 on average and general hardness has been around 9.

I do have an API test kit and while I'm getting things stabilized, I'm testing every day to get the best idea of how much ferts the plants are using so that I can adjust to the perfect weekly dose.
