I feel you. Trying out the dimensions of the outer and inner tube for a bell siphon at a given flow rate is a pain.
And at least for me, after getting them to work, they always seem to quit on me...

Rockwall is polystyrene foam carved and covered with cementy stuff.
Wood is pvc conduit, steel wire, GS and again, cement on top.
