I know this is on the low tech forum, but are you giving the plants any nutrients at all, or just relying on fish poop? Some plants can do well even with that kind of setup, but not all of them by a...

If you had oak in your palladurium you might have a reasonable chance at getting portabellas to grow from spores. You'd have a better chance if you got ahold of a sample of the actual mycelium (from...

Any kind of new -anything- in a tank is vastly more likely to die than something that has been in the tank for a period of time. If they last the first month, they'll probably last the next year or...

I really like this. I've wanted to do one of these with a 3' vase for years, but I'm afraid of the kids/dogs destroying it. It's nice to see one started well. Best of luck!

It's possible that if you pull off the inlet grate you'll find a part that could be adapted to a tube/sponge filter. It's worth checking out, in any case.

If you want the prefilter to stay clear, buy a stainless steel mesh prefilter on eBay (or here, if someone is selling them from the forum.) They last forever and really don't get clogged.

Your clump of moss and the cholla wood are going to be more than enough for the babies. Pygmy cories aren't likely to bother them at all, and they'll definitely leave them alone after the first week...

In the end a plague of scuds wiped out every single non-shrimp thing in the tank. That wound up being the biggest danger of buying macroalgae - infesting the tank with scuds. It's been a while, but...

If we're assuming a slow leak, that's how it has to work; that's just how liquids are. It's doesn't matter at all what shape the bridge is or whether it is level or not as long as both ends are...

The lack of growth is probably just due to changes in the plants' environment. They may have been grown emersed (out of the water) so that when you submerge them they are getting less CO2 than they...

Into the tanks, where sufficient room was allowed for its presence? If it's a pair of 10g cubes, they're 13" on a side. Based on that, the bridge will hold something like 1.7 gallons of water if...

How heavily planted is this tank? If it's a jungle you could dump them all in without any real problems. If it's sparsely planted, take it slowly so that you're not making a fishy horror movie.
