IMHO, Cardinal Tetras are some of the worst...

IMHO, Cardinal Tetras are some of the worst choice for a newly set up tank.

If the tank is already cycled and if you can find good stock (almost impossible now days) Neon Tetras are pretty hardy....

For the light, 2 bookshelf wall brackets (~$5) or 2 hanging flower basket brackets (~$15) total will also work. Especially if the wall studs are in the 'right' location.

- move the old filter to the new tank
- move the guppies to the new tank the same day
