I think the spar is also meant for outdoor use and has better waterproofing qualities. Epoxy resins were my first thought, however, too expensive for my budget.

Oh that's not real pearling, it's just oxygen bubbles from water changes. The bubbles stick for days if not disturbed. I don't run CO2. I just dose with Excel and Iron. Plants do grow like crazy...
