To discorage uprooters I just push it under the substrate like a seed its grows in quite fast under the right lighting and I have it in all my tanks some are real pretty low on the lighting spectrum...

I always soak my new plants in a cheleated iron...
I always soak my new plants in a cheleated iron solution , snails and eggs seem to hate it and the plants love it make it quite a strong solution and rinse well afterwards half an hour should suffice
