I didn't see a contradiction when I posted that, but I see what you mean. When I think EI, it should follow the suggested dosing schedule closely of macros and micros, but the tank in question just...

There appears to be a symbiotic relationship between bacteria and BBA. The fertilizers aren't just used by plants and algae, it's also used by bacteria to grow. The bacteria provide nutrients for...

I don't know if this description conjures the right image, but if you look at the closeup of the leaves of L. aromatica, do you see the bumpiness or rumpling? That's an indication that there's...

That does not fit the description of EI dosing.

Also, if you look carefully at some of the plants, (e.g. Limnophila aromatica, Ludwigia "Red"), there is some toxicity of trace nutrients.

Show me one tank that fits this description because I've yet to see one.

Also, if it's too toxic for plants, it's probably too toxic for algae.

My opinion almost contradicts every statement. High nutrients do indeed cause algae, but the word "high" is relative. Algae can use the excess nutrients, hence the reason why it's high. Fish poop...

I don't know how long you'd have to wait.
Iron is a trace nutrient and can also cause problems if there's excess.

The trace dosing is probably what's causing the issues. Stop dosing traces altogether, then observe the condition of plants. You wouldn't feed a baby if it doesn't want to eat, but when it's...

Not a light toxicity, but most likely a micro-toxicity. I suspect it's an interaction between iron and light. Light can excite chemicals or metals within plant cells which cause it to become toxic....

The necrotic holes of the old growth are unlikely to be K deficiency but probably a toxicity of iron, especially at the concentrations you are dosing. An Fe:Mn imbalance exacerbates this problem so...
