There was a member selling greens early on the FS section, 15 for $35 shipped I believe. I think the username was "sonicpath". I would suggest you start with at least ten, legitimate green shrimp.

Where did you buy these? If only 5 are alive, I would suggest getting some more. The difference in color is interesting, I would try to breed 2 different strains.

As long as the tank is well cycled and has light, they will generally never starve. Unless you have thousands.

I'm sorry your shrimp aren't making it, but give it time. They're tough and now you know about topping off.

Get more pumpkins! Just add like 10 and let them breed. They generally slow down when the population gets a little too high. You could keep at least 30 shrimps (IMO) in that tank.
