I used it in my planted tank because the city I lived in had tons of ammonia and phosphates in the city water. You can do it...saltwater guys use it and grow marine plants just fine with it =P

I would just do water small water changes with the new water and bring the numbers down slowly. I'd be worried about too much change in a complete switch over even with acclimation

Yup sometimes I buy some distilled water and just let it soak and swish it around and rinse with more. Should be perfectly fine

It's been almost a week and I only see a few specs. Can't believe I've possible gotten rid of the stuff...

Found an easy way to clean duckweed

I have such a love hate relationship with this plant. On one hand it just carries my tank till my plants grow in and can keep up with the algae.

Usually takes about two hours for one of my tanks that I had sponge filters in. The HOB creates aeration of the surface which makes the CO2 escape quickly.

Most of the plants you listed are not very fast growing. I would agree with the advice to keep testing and keep up with your water changes.

Due to how small it is you could easily do DIY with a 10$ in tank filter to diffuse it.

Otherwise I'd go with the paintball setup. Depending where you live...

I have not seen this on guppy grass,duck weed etc. But on my very high light 65 (3 T5HO) everything that floats is turning pink and green.

I dunno man Java fern might and melon sword have really tough leaves almost like anubias. They might dig it up, but man the colors of cichlids in a nice planted tank *shivers* So cool.

And it's pretty hardy. Had one mowed down by snails moved it to a snail free high light dirtied tank and the thing is looking great. I get excited to see one leaf a week. I'm hoping it'll take over...
