Hope it works after you went through the trouble of time traveling to 1985 to buy it in the first place!

Nice thing about bogwood is that it's heavy and sinks without needing to be water logged. It also (in my experience) doesn't release as much as a softer wood will.

I've not tested this myself, but I've heard people say that Africans don't particularly care for the taste of Java Ferns and tend to pick at them at first but eventually leave them alone. Maybe...

Before using chemicals, why not go the natural route? Assassin snails do a great job, as do some of the loaches.

I set up a planted 20L cory tank with Aneus, julii and and a few pygmies. I thought it would need something midwater, but I'm leaving it alone. The aneus are the stars and I think they are trying...

Agree with Rich on the Korelia; getting small ones and strategically placing them where flow is needed is better than mega power from the filter return. For example, in one deep column tank I placed...

I find a lot of people don't keep it warm enough for rams. They are happier in higher temps. They can live in the mid 70's, but do much better and are hardier in the low 80's. That's long term...

Bala sharks will be happy to treat your plants as a salad bar. Plus they are tank busters. I'd stay away from them.

I have that tank and I'm using 2 12" Planted Plus LED fixtures for Java Moss, red ludwigia, rotalla, giant val, crypt wendtii, and tons of Susswassertang, which is currently out of control.

That could be. Here in Arizona we have rock hard water, and I've grown JF in low light, no CO2 tanks for years. It grows so fast that I moved it out of one tank but did not see a small plantlet...

I don't want to hijack your thread, but thought I'd give my two cents in dealing with this same tank.

Here is my experience. Looks like you have a 15 gallon column by Aqueon; I have had the same...

Just two cents, but I went from T5's to LED (Planted +) and it is a difference of night and day (pardon the pun). I love the look of the light, and my plants have gone crazy. LED for all the tanks...

Subscribed.

I had a pair that spawned reliably once a month in a heavily planted 15 gallon. When the fry go to be a few days post free swimming one (both?) of them would devour every last one.

CPD's are one of the most interesting fish I've kept but I have to say, taking size into consideration, they are focused little predators. They spawn in my heavily planted 15 column tank almost...

My Vals grow bigger and faster in my pool sand/hard water tank than in my Flourish/soft water tank. Which is relative I guess because they both grow large fast, but the hard water/pool sand ones...

Water changes will bring down nitrate. In the case of mysterious deaths, I'd be in favor of a large one right about now.

I don't think the carbon is going to fix your ammonia problem, if that is the problem. You need to get some numbers. If you don't have a test kit, I'm sure your LFS will do a free water test for...

Based on the quick deaths, I'm going with water quality. You need to start by testing the big three--ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate. How long has this tank been set up? I'd also like to hear about...

That's a pretty long photoperiod. You could also try Amano Shrimp; they love the stuff. Just acclimate carefully that must be a pretty high level of CO2.

Zerodameaon is correct.

Not to be preachy, but you are definitely in the wrong hobby. A fish like that would grow big enough to suck up enough smaller fish to do a bit of damage to any area it...

I think the crypts in my 46 in pool filter sand grow faster than the ones in my tank with Flourite. I stopped using root tabs or they get too big too fast. Both have Planted Plus lights with...
