Check with a physician and see if you might possibly be allergic to nitrates. Other than that, I know that Mycobacterium Marinum can cause skin rashes but I'm not sure how common it is.

Are you positively sure that you have a male and female? I'm sure they experience breeders but everyone makes mistakes. I've never really seen a male chase a female around like that even under stress.

Both are female. BTW what the LFS guy said about only having males is true. My LFS is the same way because males and generally bigger and better colored so they sell better than females.

Agree on shrimp. I had success in keeping them with cherries and ghosts but I wouldn't risk anything pricey. As far as fish I was able to keep them with certain small barbs with no problem.
