what is your tank size? are you using reactor or diffuser? what solution are you using for the indicator? (ready made or you need to mix with tank water) have you check for any leakage?

just use eco complete as it is. no need to cap with sand, the sand will slip to the bottom in due time. get the biological filter working, can use bacteria starter if you want to.

After you do spot treatment, you need to 50% Wc after few hours . That my practice. It said to remove any Ammonia spark or build up from the dead algae.

I'm a fan of T5. Been using odyssea t5ho all the while. Giving me a good high light with fraction of led cost. And I'm able play around with colour bulbs to suit my liking and plants.
