I don't see why not... if it is a moss - it can be divided and attached to wood or stone and they will continue to grow. You would probably have to use string or mesh attach it.

I'm no expert but...

I think it looks good too and I agree with hutch11 - add driftwood and some short foreground plants. Also, you might try some plants with a reddish color for contrast.
