Gammarus aka amphipods are the least picky when it comes to food. They eat virtually any leaf you provide them.

Oak/Maple/Elm, etc... they don't care. They can also survive massive temperature...

Using it as filler now.

It's actually a yoyo loach aka Botia almorhae. You can actually spell yoyoyo on the one you photographed & are better in groups of 5+. I have male/female pair in my tank.

If you're going to use this "sand" based on what I've seen......

Use HOT water
White bucket that you don't care about.
Fill bucket about 1/4-1/3 full.
Use a a strong metal spoon to agitate it, DON'T use your hands.
Have camera around in case you want...

Your 1st image the close up macro shot is out of focus.

Plastic see through jars look the same to me, but the wafers I use don't resemble yours either.

Did you buy the FIRST jar yourself?

Good luck finding an actual scientific name for this. It's in the macrobrachium family & most likely caught from a wild river/pond somewhere in your country since similar colored shrimps are found...

Indian Whisker Shrimp in the Macrobrachium family.

They typically retail for about $1 each, but I think they look nicer than ghost shrimps.

Looks like a low grade male carbon rili. Babaulti shrimp don't usually have colors like that.

I'd be happy if one stuck in with my shipment. At least it's easy to identify.
