That's ok with me - everyone in the tank munches on baby neocardinas and it seems to be making them all happier (except the neo's)

considering bristlenose

hi all -

I love the bristlenose plecos - they are so cool to look at and it would be great to have another algae eater in the tank. But I wonder:

- are there any that will stay small? What is...

This is great news for me. I think I'm going to pull my huge piece of driftwood right out of the tank, take the anubias off completely, trim this really nicely, then tie them back on. There are so...

After 4 summers with the neo's I've noticed that they just don't fare well during the summer. Many survive, but a lot don't and the population isn't stable. The shrimp aren't able to grow their...

Actually I wouldn't :) I fought against this heat for a long time and fans/lights only did so much to help. I can bring it from like 84 to 80 if I leave the lights off completely (for weeks) and run...

Ahh interesting. If they only grow from the 'tip' I guess I can just cut it down and let it start it's journey again.

warm water shrimp

Hi al -

My tank stays at around 75 during the winter, but it gets so hot here in Denver that sometimes in the winter it's over 80 for days or even a couple of weeks. I really don't want to have a...

Hi all-

I put 3 little anubias on some driftwood a couple of years ago, and WOW they are huge now! I did a serious tank cleaning this week and the anubias have big stems like the width of a magic...

I really think it's not dust from the safe-t-sorb. It was really well rinsed, has been in the tank for a very long time, and nothing has unsettled it recently. Also, it's very soft - not sandy or...

I can clean it up, but I'm not really sure how. I can suction some of it off the leaves while doing a w/c, and maybe vaccum the substrate just a bit. But, beyond that I'm not sure what it means to...

Substrate is safe-t-sorb, and I really never vacuum it because there are a lot of plants/wood so I'm certain there is a lot of mulm in there. When I wave the brown stuff off the leaves, it seems to...

I can very easily brush it off, even just by waving my hand around and pushing water. The brown stuff is very soft, I can barely feel it. It feels like I would expect mulm to feel! The thing is, it's...
