A big mass of hornwort or elodea would work- both are cheap and can be floated. They will suck up nutrients. They would be easy to pull out later if you want.

The water will eventually need to be changed. Solids will build up in the water.

A nano aquarium is not a natural enviroment that needs no maintance.
