My tank has a pressure relief safety valve incorporated into the valve. Don't all tanks has this? Worst case it purges co2 and wastes some or all depending on how hot.

The one thing I have noticed is that check valves in bubble counters that are filled with glycerin or mineral oil last longer. My guess is that the previous prevent corrosion of the check valve.

Lighting is more than enough. Start with 8 hours a day no more. How much co2 are you injecting? Most of my issues, almost all, were lack of co2. You can kill BGA with antibiotic real easy.

I use 2 of the white plastic washers at the same time. I have never had a leak at the bottle. I replace mine ever fill but other have had good luck reusing them. I get mine at home depot.
