Flourite sand is a plant specific substrate so you won't have any problems growing plants.

FWIW, sand substrates are fine. I've used PFS for years without issues. Roots grow fine in them.

You can buy those hydropinc fixtures for very reasonable prices. They usually come with great reflectors, bulbs, and warranty's. Not too fancy to look at but not ugly either.

Glosso will grow well below a ph of 6 IME.

My 48g in my sig has a kh of 0 and ph down near 5 when the CO2 is on. No problems with fish, plants, or shrimp.

Added the Erio compressum and removed the ludwigia peruensis.

I really like the compressum. It took a bit of a beating in shipping but it seems it will recover quickly.
