You can't change it out without turning the working pressure to zero. You'll mess up the regulator if you try to remove it under pressure. Working pressure is easy to dial back to where you need it....

Fairly certain it's co2. I've never had any luck with nerites in co2 injected tanks. They end up slowing down in a day or two and then just dying.
