I wonder if a little four dollar fan would be good, to keep moisture from building up. I've thought about doing the same with my qt tank.

I've never heard about keeping them in a different room.

have you tried moving the drop checker around? You may also want to change the fluid because if your tank is 4kh and your ph is 6.5 it would seem like your drop checker should have changed color....
