Thanks a lot for the reply. You learn a new thing every day. :) I did not know the colors were a result of breeding.

I do not add any fertilizers because I had bad experiences with it previously....

My cherries have a decent pinkish/redish color but not like the ones I see on the internet. Are they missing some nutrient in their diet? Protein maybe? I feed them Wardley's and Hikari algae...

I started with 2 platies in my tank and ended up with 75+ in a year. They do not seem to have problems with breeding. Java moss would be nice for any kind of fry.

I have not had much success with micro sword. It does not grow. It may be because I have coarse grained profile substrate. It is supposed to be fairly easy to grow but I would think glosso is easier....
