Restricting the output of the filter will not cause any appreciable additional wear and tear (although restricting the input side would). Your filter performance would be diminished somewhat however...

Thanks. I've seen blue base rock for sale through one my vendors but haven't seen it in person. They only sell it in 50 lb increments so too expensive just to see. I assume it's just regular base...

They look like regular gbr to me but I have seen "powder blue" rams listed recently. Not sure what they look like though. I'd assumed they were just poorer quality electric blues and passed.

For what its worth, I usually treat with melafix when I see such injuries just to keep them from getting much worse. Not sure if this would help at this point though. Perhaps a picture?
