in the second tank, I would do a paradise fish, macropodus opercularis, macropodus ocellatus or macropodus spetchi. large enough not to be eaten, tolerant of cooler water...

You could try replacing the lilaeopsis braziliensis with L. Chinensis, it looks similar, but grows to an inch tall, maximum.

your tank is awesome! I love the way the moss and ferns are growing on the wood, it looks really natural which is hard to get in a 29 gallon tank
