try bumping up the co2 a bit. with as much light as you have you should be runing more then 2 bbm. to much light and not enough co2 will cause algae to bloom.

in my experience, no. nerites are just to big for the yoyos to eat. they will grub down on pond snails though. and just about any other small invert that they can get their mouth around.
