i dont think this hits me as much as it would if you sloped the substrate, without the slope the visualization goes directly to the left side of the tank, i also feel you should try moving the rocks...

ghost shrimp can live in amazingly poor water quality (from experience) id say put some tetra water conditoner and that would be fine. if u have java moss in there already they should weather through...
