Do not trust your drop checker to be the end-all, be-all of CO2 readings. It's a crude tool that only gives a rough estimate at best.

I was following where you were going, they have more of a glide to them than a swim (e.g. tetras). My flow question stemmed from exactly what you described, how does it affect their natural movement.

I was shooting for 5 total, sounds like it shouldn't be a horrible plan. You say they don't shoot across the tank, so how are they affected by high(er) flow rates?
