I second Ca. In my tanks that Staurogyne sp. purple seems to grow taller and curl if GH is too low. It seems to do best for me in the GH range of 4-5.

Rotala rotundifolia.

The Rotala rotundifolia you bought was grown emersed. When grown submersed, its leaves do not stay round. Hope this helps.
