Stop using Ph down too, that is causing swings in your Ph. Ph down only works for a little while and think it only lasts like 1-2 days then your water is right back to where it was and it is not good...

Of course I was talking with a friend, and if he finds it is columnaris, he eunthanizes the WHOLE tank. Its deadly nasty. The only thing that kills it is bleach and sunbaking everything dry.

Yes. It can lead to a build up of organics. Try using an air line or using a tube with panty hose on the end of it and siphoning the sand/gravel. Only do a little at a time, and see if that helps....
