I've come across some that could hold someone in a pool but it's very rare. The only ones that might be able to hold you up might be TOO buoyant.

Equal parts sand and cap will work. No more than 3" total seems to be the magic depth. Check your local hardware store or pool supply store for pool filter sand. Big box pet stores won't have it.

Yep its still up and flourishing. Its been slow but its starting to fill out. The shrimp are doing great. I'll have to get some updated pictures of the tank when I get a chance.

The electrical current going through the water will be more dangerous than the corrosion. A full water change and cleaning isn't likely necessary but will probably ease your mind a bit.
