I would not use MDF ANYWHERE NEAR an aquarium, unless it has been sealed with a resin or epoxy. MDF will adsorb the water, deform, and loose strength.

I have the GLA "double check" drop checker. Total overkill and unnecessary? Yes. Do I like it? Yes. It's nice to have something to visually reference in the tank.

I had one on another tank. I didn't use it for too long as things got squared away. It is a pretty nifty unit and will get the job done. Nice removable option.

I've had an 18W IIRC Jebo inline for the last 5 years on my FX5. I just cemented the plumbing fittings and has been trouble free.

Nothing really. Just the foam that comes with them and some "bio-rings" in one of the trays. I have an odd shaped tank so the output works fine. You could definitely get by with just a normal pump...

I run two FX5s on my 110..... they do just fine. I have a bunch of rainbows and cory cats. One is just a straight pump / filter and the other runs the heaters, co2, uv, ugj.
