I'd say its too much light. I think the fluval edge 6g is 8.8inches high lets say you have an inch to inch and a half of substrate that puts you at around 7.3 inches from light to substrate.

Generally with co2 plants will grow a lot faster, especially plants that carpet. Theres a lot of methods to finding out how much bps you should be running and it depends on the way you are defusing...

I've used erythromycin before to defeat bga and it never came back. If I remember correctly bga also smells bad.

I've read before that increasing flow and using an airstone on it can help also.
