Awesome man. See this is what I needed to hear. Apparently it isn't a problem so I guess brass and plastic are both fine to use.

I'll still use plastic though lol (I'm a cheapskate).

So you only used bottle #1? You have to add 8 drops from each bottle 1 and 2. Check the instructions.

You probably won't have enough natural food in your tank for them. They need suspended solids such as algae and bacteria. Which would probably make your tank ugly. Now if you had a green water...

Yeah those are chironomids aka bloodworms. Those just haven't built a shelter. If you can catch them you could feed them to your fish. Otherwise they won't hurt anything.

Feel them with your hand. If they're raised they're probably chironomids. At least that's what it looks like to me since the area around the looks cleaned off. They use diatoms to build little tubes...
