Assuming your doing your 50% or more weekly water changes & correct lighting, your plants should thrive with tap water

Going to R/O for soft water is more of a fish issue than a plant issue.

I aim for 4-5 KH and 7-8 GH for my type of fish.

I finely got the Aqua UV with the built in wiper which keeps the sleeve clean all the time..... without tearing apart the system . Good luck

On my Unit I get around 450 TDS going in the unit and around 15 TDS coming out, I also now do 50% R/O and 50% tap for water change's, which is given me a KH of 4-5 and a GH of 6-7.
