well dang. that makes it sound as if salt to any degree is dangerous. i've used salt as a treatment for tetras countless times. of course, i always do half the required amount to be on the safe side....

you can always acclimate them to your water, but some fish just have a tough time surviving in hard water. Neon tetras are a good example of that. They generally just don't do well in a hard water...
