It's not recommended to keep males and females together. If you wanted to divide the tank it would be possible, but keeping them together without a divider often results in one beating up the other....

I've seen in mentioned a few times on this last page. I think the best solution to this problem is for the stores to simply stop selling these tankbuster fishes (easier said than done, I know)....
