I have a 6 foot tank with two co2 outlets feeding two power heads,there are 5 powerheads/water pumps in total in this tank plus 2 filters.

I have not been around here for a while but I just read your post and I know exactly what you mean, long tanks in general need two co2 outlets ( one in each corner),this is my experience of course...

IMHO a filter like xp3 and a 2 powerheads will be just enough in a heavily planted tank,but of course another filter will help .

Normally a power head or two is recommended for large heavily planted tanks to help in creating better water movement.
For your tank a good filter is all you need.and no to the air pump.
